Your worst quality

My worst quality as a human? I’m not Batman!

Just kidding. Coming to the question, I guess my worst quality is I’m impatient according to me, which subsequently makes me restless, short tempered and do shit. This hinders my thinking and what I’m supposed to do. I might even doubt myself and my capability. Fuck this is a chained reaction!

Just like anyone, I’m at my best when the mind is calm and at pressure (not stress, big difference) And I should take things seriously.

In short, I should be more like Batman

All of the worlds infinite possibilities rest within one simple circle.

This is a brief (add- epic) scene from a episode (S02E11 to be specific) of one of my favourite shows and perhaps the best network show out there- Person of Interest. This gives so much insight on perspective and personally I have been in the same lot most times, and this simple scene is like a eye opener. Don’t worry no spoilers and I recommend you see this show, I’m sure you will be sold.

Finch: (to students) ‘Pi’. Can anyone of you tell me what it means?
(after silence and looking at disinterested students in their own worlds)
I’ll settle for an intelligent question here.

Girl: My friend has a question here. What is any of this good for and when do we ever use it?
(all laugh)

Finch: (smiling) Let me show you. Pi. The ratio of a circumference of a circle to its diameter. And this [3.1415926535… ] is just the beginning.

It keeps on going. Forever. Without ever repeating.

Which means that contained within this strings of decimals is every single other number.

Your birth date, combination of your locker, your social security number.. (continues to write more decimal digits)

It’s all in there somewhere.

And if you convert these decimal digits to letters, you would have every word that ever existed, in every possible combination.

The first syllable you spoke as a baby, the name of your latest crush, your entire life story from beginning to end. Everything we ever say or do… All of the worlds infinite possibilities rest within this one simple circle (pointing to the circle on board)

Now what you do with that information… What it’s good for… Well that will be up to you.

Before kicking the bucket

Although there are a lot of things I want to do before I kick the bucket, (See “The Buried Life” a very cool MTV documentary TV series) I never really thought about it as a list. So thanks to the daily prompt, now finally I’ll just jot them down, may be random and in no order of importance, although what comes first to my mind as I write it down may give a faint idea. So here is my bucket-list:

  • Travel Keep traveling around the world. At least 20 different countries
  • Summit Mount Everest
  • Scuba Diving.
  • Eat at the best and most expensive restaurant in the world (both may quite obviously not coincide)
  • Make a film/documentary. Hopefully a very good one.
  • Write a movie script.
  • Become self-employed/Entrepreneur.
  • See Linkin Park live, and at least once in my own country. Actually bring them here myself in some capacity.
  • Own a Harley. Before that, learn how to ride. 😛
  • Meet Christopher Nolan and tell him how awesome he is and how much I respect him.
  • Do Paragliding.
  • Witness something truly magnificent.
  • Pay tribute to Steve Jobs and Bruce Lee at their respective memorials.
  • Get my graphic novels signed by Frank Miller and Alan Moore.
  • Visit and document at least 100 exotic locations.
  • Travel a long distance, say 2 countries on the sea in a boat.
  • Kiss the most beautiful girl I’ve seen/known.
  • Learn Swimming
  • Swim with Dolphins
  • ‘Pat’ a whale.
  • Learn how to play 3 different instruments.
  • Buy a house (not just a flat/apartment)
  • Get at least 2 dogs. Not pets. Family. Friends.
  • See all the artwork mentioned in Dan Brown’s books.
  • Go to Disney World and behave like a kid.
  • Rafting in the Amazon.
  • Visit Niagara Falls.
  • Visit CD Projekt Red, Warshaw and Ubisoft Studios, Montreal and give them personal kudos.
  • Pen down a script for a video game, perhaps an RPG.
  • See a Broadway show in New York.
  • See a film at the Sundance Film festival.
  • Learn 3 foreign languages and be fluent in atleast one of them.

(phew!) I’ll keep adding more as I can think of what which just comes and goes in my mind but present somewhere. So coming to the prompt:

What’s the 11th item on your bucket list?

So let’s see:

Do Paragliding.

Yeah I always wanted to do that! Especially seeing it in movies, video games and every other dam place. Hopefully will cross this one before most others.

Have you ever made a New Year’s Resolution that you kept?

No.

Why? Because I never made one. Ever. To me, this is just ridiculous. I admit, looking forward to a new year, a new chapter of your life and resolving make yourself better is of course a good thing, but why wait for more 300 days or so for doing something which you possibly start NOW*

(*conditions apply- unless you are waiting for the result of some test/interview you gave or waiting for a child, just saying)

“Dam it! It’s already past ‘New Year Day’, so I’ll stop drinking next year after 364 days. Till then I ‘resolve’ to lose my weight. Or virginity.”

Some of these human customs do elude me.

Perhaps people should first resolve to keep their resolutions. Resolu-ception.

By the way just for your knowing:

A 2007 study by Richard Wiseman from the University of Bristol involving 3,000 people showed that 88% of those who set New Year resolutions fail, despite the fact that 52% of the study’s participants were confident of success at the beginning. Men achieved their goal 22% more often when they engaged in goal setting, (a system where small measurable goals are being set; such as, a pound a week, instead of saying “lose weight”), while women succeeded 10% more when they made their goals public and got support from their friends

No End, No Beginning

“If there’s no end, There can be no beginning.

It feels like forsaking the dawn, we awaken and still we don’t see.”

I can go and quote the entire song which is one of my most favourite from one of my favourite bands Poets Of The Fall. While I personally don’t have the celebration spirit (you can check out my post on other blog here which I tried to give an account of the preceding year) I decided to use this as a good excuse to start a second blog being more of a micro-blog, journal or whatever you would like to call it. Besides WordPress is cool, been using this platform for 3 years now solely for following other fellow bloggers and blogs. I got domain for cheap and quite pleased how WordPress has integrated support for custom owned domains.

This is the first time I’m actually writing a introductory post, contrary to my first blog which I started over 5 years ago blatantly when I was a foolish kid (not a kid anymore, but can’t comment about the foolish aspect) which then went to become a big part of me and what I do, manifesting the interest in active journalism in me. I’ll use this as my small journal to write about things which hopefully shouldn’t exceed a page on a more regular basis. So taking this as a good excuse I would just like to say about my nick name/online alias I chose for myself which I have been using for a long time and quite some people have asked me about it: ‘the nameless one’

It is not quite a original name, let me tell you that as that has been used in various contexts over time (google is your best friend padawan, or is it bing now?) but for me personally that resonates very often because of my constant question of myself and the world around me.

What is the face of humanity? What is the voice of it? Ever wondered about it. Walk in a crowd, yet all alone, see a random face. That is me. That is the face of humanity, the noise is the voice (although I stand out thanks to my freakishly unique appearance) Humanity is faceless, we are all it’s nameless seeds which make it thrive, whether a beautiful blossom, a poisonous killer or a bloody odour. And I’m one of them, a nameless being. A nameless one, whose existence might not matter in my own world.

You don’t need a new year to change yourself. Or for ‘resolving’ to do something new/different. That is just plain stupid if you ask me. Although it’s a dam famous cliche which I myself for the first time using it now, but always remember, the point is to move on ahead, coming to how I started this and edited and re-edited about 10 times to make it sound less pathetic, there is no beginning without an end.

So hope you had a normal/nice/great/whatever new years eve. As for me, I was walking back home alone listening to “Feel Like Home” by Fort Minor after a long time when the clock struck 2013 here. So yeah Happy New Year to myself. Not that I care of anyways.

For those who look forward to everyday as a fresh new challenge, there is no ‘new year’ for them. Life is not measured in years, but in actions.

– Yours truly.

Have a great life ahead.
