Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)

What is the best dream you’ve ever had? Recount it for us in all its ethereal glory. If no dream stands out in your memory, recount your worst nightmare. Leave no frightening detail out.

Let me say it in all it’s glory: I have had dreamless sleep almost my entire life. Okay that doesn’t exactly count when I was a kid, since cane barely argue for that just like in most other cases, though don’t remember ever waking up (or otherwise…) because of one.

Instead, here is a nice quote by the missile man (former president) of India:

“The dream is not that you see in sleep, dream is which doesn’t let you sleep.”
– Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam

Also in other news, it’s my birthday today. Still dreaming. πŸ˜‰

Are you being served?

What’s the most dreadful (or wonderful) experience you’ve ever had as a customer?

Some weeks ago, a friend treated me and another his four month due birthday treat at an awesome restaurant which is one of our all time favourites. That time, looks like there were already two sets of different people who came there for such a celebration (we here basically hog, that’s just about it for us) and the best part was not only those people who were, but also the entire staff of the hotel, including the manager, waiters, chefs and all went there, bought cake/dessert and sang alone with those people. Well almost after we were done, there were two such ones which happened, so I thought why not do one ourselves and honestly, just to annoy him basically πŸ˜› (he is the shy-doesn’t mingle around much-you don’t need to know much types) I discreetly spoke to the waiter who was serving us, he didn’t even realized right until everyone showed up and we sang for him while sort of making fun of him of course πŸ˜€ The best part was there were two guys on their own to our adjacent table who asked us and joined in singing too! πŸ˜€

Oh and we were just the third, there was one more fourth later on just after us sometime later. Four birthday joys in about 2 hours, and it seemed each batch encouraged the next to do this short fun moment. Well I really liked this part from the restaurant staff, that was indeed awesome. All coming together to join in the fun. Especially matters when we were just 3 of us. And not to forget those 2 random good guys from the adjacent table. Isn’t it always more the merrier and happiness increases when spread? πŸ™‚

Well not always, things which I wouldn’t want to mention. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜› Oh and that treat-giving-ass made me delete the photographs I took so sorry for the lack of them.

Weekly Photo Challenge: In the Background

Speaking of backgrounds, while the word brings many wonderful (and also awful) imagery to the mind, I was always curious about the ones at events like in premiers, launches or anywhere in general. Honestly most are really meh, in spite of all the stupidity, while there are those which have really work put in them.

ImageThis was from the Mumbai Comic-Con 2012. Simply well done. And here is another one, from the launch of the book, ‘The Oath of the Vayuputras’ when I met one of (rather only) my favourite Indian author which was on my birthday. Well the artwork of the book is so magnificent that really nothing more work was required.

The cake is a lie

Those are some of the most famous words in video gaming, from the game Portal. You can’t yourself a gamer regardless of what and where you play if you haven’t played Portal.

Now coming to cakes, today is my (21st) birthday. I never wrote a post pertaining to my birthday, heck I never even celebrate(d). I do shit all the time anyways. An intersting conversation struck between me and a friend of mine, Mehul, who is a fellow big bat-fan. Today is also his birthday (so drop by and wish him too if you must) but unlike me he wasn’t aware of it. I sent him a text at midnight and he replied back with a thank you matey. After 1 AM or so, I got a call from him, and this happened:

Mehul: Hello sir.

Me: Hello sir.

Mel: Wish you many happy returns of the day!

Me: (after a brief silence) Wish you the same πŸ˜›

And we both burst laughing. It was quite a while since I had a hearty laugh over something silly such as this. Wishing people ‘same to you/wish you the same’ on festivals, occasions, exams and other days, this time I found someone to whom I could say that too. Actually there are two, him I already said and another fellow blogger friend. (I need to figure out how to embed tweets here now)

Now with that it, coming to the main topic:

ImageThe cake is a lie.

Now why is it so? I and Mehul later in the day had a chat asking what did we do. He said he was overdosed with cake. Cheese cake, cream cake, this cake, that cake… cake poisoning. And ironically I didn’t have a cake for months! As I said, birthdays don’t matter to me, I barely even remember it at times (and people barely call me too for that matter). But this did make me thinking. Why are birthdays and cake are so closely associated? Why not something else? This is one of those many clichΓ©s I fail to understand.

I don’t do anything special thanks to me and my not-so-at-times boring life, I had this glorious bucket yesterday if that matters.

ImageComing to today’s daily prompt, I think this should party give some answer. More later as I’ve got to attend a book launch event now and meet the awesome author πŸ˜€

Update: The book launch and subsequent event(s) were great. Have a look at the summary/coverage of them. These were 2 very interesting days and a memorable birthday indeed.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Love

So this one can be a bit tricky one. Thinking of love, to me and everyone else, a lot of things come into mind, here speaking in context of pictorially. Now I’m not going to speak about love or give my ‘opinion’ on it, hell in reality you can’t have an opinion or perspective on such things.

There is love, unconditional, there is affection, attachment, lust, just making yourself feel good. Most people easily confuse all of them, and all of them are related in one way or the other so it becomes tricky.

So here I’m just posting the first thing which came into my mind. My home has been a birth house for numerous pigeons and sparrows for nearly a decade, this is a pic taken a long time ago (don’t exactly remember when, might pre-date 2007) which I originally posted in my other blog (sorry for the ‘low quality post’, was pretty naive back then if you see the archives).

A mother’s love for children. Pure, unconditional love. Here is a bonus picture of the baby pigeons some time after birth.

Well sadly we live in such a world where mothers sell their children, kids kill their parents and all such shit happen. Always try to be realistic, but that doesn’t mean have to be all pessimistic.

And speaking of mothers, today is my mother’s 51st birthday. Happy Birthday Mother (yeah I call/address her that).

Sweet Sixteen

When I was 16, I never thought life would be so messed up, boring and insane all at the same time, precisely for one reason – I didn’t have any big expectations from myself.

Rewinding back to those days, that was quite an ‘eventful’ year if I may put it. Most significant in my personal life were these 2: meeting my one of my idols, former president of India Dr, APJ Abdul Kalam on 13 February 2008 (followed by another insignificant boring birthday and the much hyped 10th grade exams in the country) and the change of a lifestyle when I went to another place (Kota, Rajasthan) for the ‘pre-engineering training’ and 2 years of high school.

It was quite a year. I went out of home because I always wanted to get out of this place and see the world. Though now I’m back here for some years and don’t know when I’ll hit the road sky/ocean next. Time will tell.

So that is how I picture my life in the years ahead, whichever path my professional(?) interests leads me to. But as I said, I didn’t quite have any expectations and as the saying goes ‘flowing with the tide’ or whatever that is.

– Bruce Lee
