75 Years of Justice #Batman75

uhK9pwDeToday, 75 years ago, the world witnessed the manifestation of The Caped Crusader; changing the lives of millions in the years to come. Thank you Bob Kane and Bill Finger for giving us someone to believe in.

Having endured for 75 years, a feat which only 76 year old Superman has topped, the legacy of The Dark Knight needs no explanation, and yet there is lot to still understand.

Happy 75 years of Batman, and many more to come. #Batman75

This year also marks the 100th birth anniversary of co-creator Bill Finger, 50th anniversary of the “new look” and 25th anniversary of Tim Burton’s Batman movie.

Superman’s 75th Anniversary Animated Short

Video

… is amazing. Okay, I posted about this earlier, but now (finally!) uploaded at all time favourite Youtube. The two-minute film is a collaboration between Man of Steel director Zack Snyder and DC animated universe boss Bruce Timm. Details here.

Already can’t wait for what they will come up with Batman’s 75th anniversary next year!

Steam turns 10 today.

ImageThe biggest PC gaming market/community Steam turns 10 today! Happy 10th birthday!

545385_10151295685020152_851291278_nFrom a piece of crappy software to a complete game changer, it has made people stop pirating, gives great (perhaps some of the best) deals and very ease of playing your games and keeping them updated without doing much, this is the best thing to happen for PC gaming, and well gaming itself.

Thanks for making our lives easier Steam. 😀

Paying tribute to the Legend

Image
“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash.

Be water, my friend.” ― Bruce Lee

This is one of my most favourite lines said by the aforementioned legend, who died 40 years ago today. Although he passed on from this world much before I was born, throughout my life he inspired me to be myself and continues to do so. Some of his very simple words brings me to tears at times, it’s the way he lived that tells his tale.

“The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering.”

He himself was the very example of his words, as his presence lives in the hearts of millions. Thank you shīfu for your teachings.

A tribute shared by Shannon via the official site‘s newsletter and facebook page:

The Legend Ended

Today a year ago, the final installment of the most epic trilogy released, The Dark Knight Rises. Words aren’t enough to describe this piece of spectacle, being a very polarizing movie of 2012, it captured the essence of what makes the most iconic caped crusader who he is. The Dark Knight Rises was the most anticipated movie of not only the year, but by numbers, of the entire preceding decade!

How many times did you see it at theaters and at the moment? I counted 12 till it went off the theaters. It surely had one of the most satisfying endings ever, and sure did move the hearts of millions of Batman fans. Now here is to the next one who takes up the mantle.

You’ve changed things… FOREVER!

3ra91bToday, 5 years ago, a movie which can be regarded utmost ‘perfect’ was released, featuring one of the longest running legendary rivalry on-screen, The Dark Knight. I remember being so dam excited for it, and couldn’t stop myself from jumping from excitement (in a manner of speaking) and also being mocked for waiting for movie ‘like this’. And it was so worth it. From hearing of Heath Ledger’s shocking and tragic death barely a month later to seeing the intense and exciting trailers at the end of ’07, all the way down to following the film’s unforgettable viral marketing campaign, it was very apparent to me and millions of others that there was already something special about this film.

There is no amount of praise which can describe this epic, or by now no need for them. 🙂 So here is to 5 years!

Also, those of us fortunate got to see the end of the legend, the last film of the epic The Dark Knight Trilogy on this day last year, The Dark Knight Rises. I remember being in tears the first time (and subsequent few) times when I watched it. So today is special indeed.

batman-1600-1050-wallpaperTake the day off and enjoy the world’s greatest movie trilogy ever made, for as already said, they have changed everything and defined how perfect movies are made.

74 years of Batman

The world’s first super hero Superman isn’t the only one celebrating a long run. Just about a year and a month later, which is actually 74 years ago as said, the world’s other greatest superhero Batman celebrates 74 years of existence, debuting in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939.

Fun Fact: Detective Comics #27 (May 1939) featured the first appearance of Batman (as “The Bat-Man”). That superhero would eventually become the star of the title, the cover logo of which is often written as “Detective Comics featuring Batman”. Because of its significance, issue #27 is widely considered one of the most valuable comic books in existence, with one copy selling for $1,075,000 in a February 2010 auction.

Happy Birthday to the world’s greatest detective, The Dark Knight!

Here is the latest of the numerous incarnations of the character throughout these many years, in the upcoming game Batman: Arkham Origins of the critically acclaimed Batman Arkham game franchise. It is in fact almost an origin story as the name says, taking place in the second year of Batman in his career as the world famous vigilante.

??????????????????????????????????

While we are getting the highly awaited Man of Steel in Superman‘s 75th year this summer, I’m wondering what are we in store for Batman‘s 75th next year. At least something right?

10 years of Meteora

Linkin Park‘s highly rated, bestselling album, Meteora was released on this day, exactly 10 years ago.

Since then, the band have evolved, experimenting with various musical styles and genres in the process and released several other successful studio efforts. Linkin Park have become a force in the music industry with a unique vibe to their music.

But Meteora is a special album. Thousands of people connected to the lyrics and the music on the album, and it’s got them through tougher times in their lives making the band unforgettable and special to them.

If Hybrid Theory was a dark place – Meteora was a light at the end of the tunnel.

For me personally this is very special. Although my most favourite album is Hybrid Theory, their debut record, it was around this time before their second record’s release that the band gained quite some publicity here after their success and I heard them, becoming a instant devotee. Linkin Park became not just a favourite band, they were my religion. Their music helped me overcome many difficult times growing up, and I felt an emotional connection which isn’t possible with something or someone else.

Today after all these years, they continue to be my most favourite, inspirational and heroic band, and continue to help me in becoming a better person. Despite the fact I’ve been a die-hard fan for about a decade, being a member of the Linkin Park Street Team (we call ourselves proud LP Street Soldiers) and the LP Underground, the official fan club of the band, I haven’t been fortunate enough to see them live even once. But that is not quite disheartening, as I have met many wonderful people all over the world throughout the years thanks to them, along with my devoted fellow fans here co-run India’s biggest LP fansite Linkin Park India, officially recognized by the music label EMI Music India here and the biggest online store flipkart, and following Mike‘s own words, not only we are trying to bring my favourite band to my country, but following it in every aspect of our lives.

When we started the band, it was because we were waiting for a sound that never happened. We got tired of waiting, and we decided to just do it ourselves.

– Mike Shinoda

Here is to amazing 10 years of music and memories. 🙂 Waiting for the day to meet my most favourite band on the planet and see them live. Until then.
