My Prized Possession?

Describe an item you were incredibly attached to as a child. What became of it?

Can’t exactly say, some books and some other small stuff. Nothing favourite in particular, but whatever I held onto must have been (or still is) dear to me, the very reason I kept them.

I was invited for the premier of the upcoming TV show Hannibal based on the iconic villain by AXN India and it was amazing. It’s 1 AM here as I type this so I’ll fill in details later.

The Social Networks

Do you feel like you “get” social media, or do you just use it because that’s where all your friends and family are?

Being a computer person, I guess so. I’ve been using many social networks for years much before any get public attention and many among them also slip away in the abyss. Well thanks to the likes of Facebook and Twitter, not only helps in being in touch with people and seeing what they are up to, today it’s a big plus for following your favourite bands. And not to mention all those good deals, offers and contests. I was lucky to bag many wins, including meeting many celebrities, actors and authors and winning cool stuff like iPods and cell phones. And my most favourite, attending movie premiers. I guess I understand how it ‘works’ than most others, or well atleast ‘make use’ of it well. 😉

The State of the State

… is pathetic if I have to describe here in one word.

To elaborate on this, I don’t know where to begin with, as things are pretty much messed up in all directions. As much as we all love to point fingers and bad mouth the politicians and government (which is true not at all questioning that), the problem is equally because of the ignorant, arrogant, unaware and not willing to open their heads or no anything citizens. But here I’ll stick to rant on the government for now.

For now on my part, the only service I can do is first be aware myself, and use my power of talking and writing. Otherwise this will remain just another one of the zillions of everyday rant without meaning.

Looking at the recent string of events here in the country, I want to talk about women. Being a guy, dedicated to the as we put it (which I still don’t know why really) ‘the better half’ of our lives, for her who probably was your first friend, and especially for her because of whom anyone who is alive on the planet (even if you are an animal intelligently capable enough of reading this) right now. And just note, while I don’t want to trivialize this issue at all by making some puns, just that without a usual pun or two might end up making you cry and your device wet and then blame me, we don’t want that do we?

And how do the proud men (and equally disgustingly women too), so called leaders and citizens treat her? Just like a commodity, piece of shit. Not being harsh, but the truth, No matter how proud one is of your so called culture, religion, community or whatever the fuck is its, facts show largely otherwise. The horrific Delhi Rape case which occurred in December 2012 threw the country in outrage and hit international news. I refrained from writing anything on it because, for what? What did all those stupid (extremely I might add) candle light marches achieved? In the recent years, I saw birth to a new class in society, the ‘candle march’ class who will do nothing to prevent something like this from happening, do nothing to help and only such drama while at it.

Oh pardon me, I was supposed to attack the government and not the foolish people right? Well the irony is, after that ‘incident’ the only thing which has changed is the increase in the no. of such sick assaults and rapes happening, and what’s the use if all this horrible acts which were happening for years brought to highlight but nothing done upon? And then comes the wonderful media, various NGOs screaming human rights and the politicians in the mix without knowing even basic communication skills let alone English. The horrible mindset which is so ridiculous I don’t even want to type here, I would rather spam tell the government go fuck yourself a hundred times and that would still be more decent!

Anyways, apart from the usual ranging from utter non-sense to false promises by the government to the momentary burst of enthusiasm by people, nothing much is happening. There are those who are trying to bring about change but just mocked and looked down upon by the real useless lot. So don’t be on the latter.

While the government has a lot to do to make things better, first change will start only from us, the people. It’s only your will which determines and what truly matters. Rest just follows. Respect women, and not only women but everyone regardless of sex, age, beliefs, race or anything else. Unless someone is not worthy of it and the world is better off without whom needs to be shot dead, but that’s not for you or me to decide.

That was my side, you can say from a guy’s perspective. As a woman, here is a wonderful piece I read some weeks back on Women’s day, where the writer nicely puts it from her side, how and only when the situation of women will improve when they stop sympathizing for themselves and getting so called special women privileges.

IndiBlogger had a meet with The Times of India for this campaign Mumbai For Women, an initiative to highlight the city’s duty towards its female citizens. A duty that the city (and I must add the country and perhaps the world?) has been repeatedly ignoring.

Cleaning and Company

Does a messy home (or office) make you anxious and cranky, or is cleaning something you just do before company comes over?

I don’t usually have company coming over to my place. And those who do come over don’t seem to mind the state of my place. My place is messy usually but I do like and maintain things in order at times. Otherwise just a mess. Nothing more to add I guess. What matters is, everyone feels at home 😛

Trading Places

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a member of the opposite sex for a day? What do you think life would be like?

I don’t know, I’m happy being a hipster guy 😛

To answer this question, this is a brilliant tv ad of the Idea cellular network here.

For non Hindi speakers, the wife and husband have a small argument that how hard their life is and the other doesn’t understand briefly and taunt each other to live each others’ life. Their son who was seeing all this simply exchanges their phones and the rest follows. After spending the day hearing their spouses calls and responsibilities they reconcile in a joking manner, and the ad ends with the tagline of the network “What an idea sir-ji”

Weekly Photo Challenge: Future Tense

I honestly didn’t knew what to post for this one, as I had a bit of lack of imagination on what denotes future tense to me or simply it didn’t strike me. So I just took a photo while writing this which actually relates to my life right now.

Since I spent a good (and sometimes complete) hours on my laptop, I have this small note on the side as to whenever I see it, reminds me of making a better life for myself. Not sure how it motivates me myself, but well it’s a start.

And since it’s phoneography month, as a bonus here is my new cell phone which I got about 10 days back through which I’m takings some of the wonderful pictures which I post here. Nokia Lumia 920, the best camera (phone) in the market today. Simply amazing.

Tears of Joy

We cry for lots of reasons: sadness, pain, fear . . . and happiness. When was the last time you shed tears of joy?

I’m not much of a ‘crying’ person. Even at times of pain or sadness I get angry more and my reaction to it is usually that way. Seldom I shed a tear, so happiness becomes more tricky. I can’t even recollect any time recently when I had some tears of joy. Although at times I’m filled with immense happiness, bringing some water out of the eyes is not something which happens.

The latest what I can honestly remember having some tears of joy is last August (2012) when I saw one of my favourite bands Poets of the Fall live for the first time. And before that in July, when I saw the most awaited movie of 2012 and the decade, and my most favourite of all time, The Dark Knight Rises. I had the privilege of seeing a special fan screening 2 days before anyone else in the world and seeing it for the first time, at certain moments really bought some tears, a sentiment which was shared by many long time Batman fans.

Apart from that which is the closest to what can get, some others which get to me are my most favourite band Linkin Park. I recently wrote a post on it here. And to end, (if you follow my blog you must have seen it a couple of times before I shared) being a Batman fan since forever, this. Took active part in spreading the word and contributing to it.

Judging a book by it’s cover

If you were to judge your favorite book by its cover, would you still read it?

Long answer short, yes.

Now I’ll stick to me reading my favourite books based on their covers rather than justifying the don’t judge a book by it’s cover which is a much common topic of discussion, and honestly, who is stupid enough to not know that by now, and if so (since the world is filled with idiots in a manner of speaking) how many actually follow it?

I have many favourite books. Many of them include graphic novels and comics which have very interesting covers quite evidently, and the others are also intriguing. Many bestsellers have different variations based on the region, language and other factors like over time too and it’s cool to see other interpretations of the same book (cover). So not much of a thoughtful one for me. Besides, in today’s with the much available resources, abundant no. of talented artists, creativity and imagination, a lame or bad cover is just a stupid excuse.
