What will I be remembered for?

So I just finished watching beloved former president of India, his excellency Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam live on his talk for Transforming Indians to India, proud for which my family, friends and most people I know are working towards. (Check out the site and on respective social networks pages) It is a the national moment for empowering our youth and bringing about change in the country.

“Small aim is a crime”

Coming to which, what about me in this equation? Dr. Kalam in his very inspiring (as always) talk had asked the audience to take some vows to bring about change in ourselves, change around us and subsequently the history of our nation, and very importantly write down what each one of us wants to be remembered for. Whoever is unique in our planet is remembered for something, and if we want to be unique, we have to be remembered for something. This is not the first time I’m hearing this, and perhaps won’t be the last, but it makes me wonder to myself for the lord-knows-what-time, what do I want to be remembered for?

“Everyone wants to be unique, and everyone else around work day and night seeing to that everyone is just everyone else.”

So quite true. Almost infinite walks of life ranging from engineering, doctors, inventors, artists, and so on, there are so much possibilities in each one among them (now that’s infinity to the power infinity who knows how much infinite times) Yet many of us struggle for what we want to do and where are we going.

I’m still not certain what I (truly) want for myself, and where I want to go. But one thing is for certain, after thinking about it, if I want to be remembered for something, that would be for for change. Being different. In complete context yet to be determined. So till then the search will be on, and never settle.

β€œWhere there is righteousness in the heart, there is beauty in character.

Where there is beauty in character, there is harmony in home.

Where there is harmony in homes, there is order in the nation.

Where there is order in nations, there is peace in the world.”

– Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam

The solution for much debated and talked about world peace all comes to we individuals, righteousness. So simple, yet most difficult right? It would be a good time to start over, as it’s never too late.

Sleeping on the mud

Alright, that might sound bizarre, but that is a classic example of free association thanks to today’s daily prompt.

So first things which to my mind when I hear (okay here read):

home: sleep, laze around, computer, mother (yeah really!) and scratching wherever I want freely πŸ˜› (quite true isn’t it?)

soil: mud (pardon my lack of imagination at times)

rain: smell of mud, walking, hiking

And as the title says, I did sleep on the mud in the countryside and mountains quite a few times. You should try it, away from our monotonous lives, really bliss.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Illumination

Weekly Photo Challenge: Illumination

My idea of illumination: Randomness. This was taken at a mall where I was hanging out in the last week of 2012, sitting idly and just looking at something to click. Completely random. I’m fascinated by lights and such decoration, but this tells the truth as per my perception.

Well apart from that, my precious laptop too πŸ˜€

The top five items

If you had to evacuate your home in an instant, what five items would you grab on your way out?

Well let’s see:

  1. My laptop bag with my laptop, hard-disks and others stuff precious.
  2. Passport (and other documents and certificates)
  3. Whatever money I have, if I have any that is.
  4. Cell phone (well technically always in the pocket or somewhere do doesn’t actually count but still)
  5. Some of my most precious books and music stuff.

I would have mentioned some clothes but unlike most others I can survive with the same ones for quite a long time. And why would I carry around with clothes if I have to go in an instant? (may apply to some or all of above points depending on circumstances)

Also in response for a daily prompt.

In a crisis

Honestly evaluate the way you respond to crisis situations. Are you happy with the way you react?

Another interesting daily prompt. If I were to evaluate myself on how I handle situations, it widely varies. My immediate reaction tend to be very spontaneous, while I tend to analyze the situations at other times. I tend to overdo it sometimes though.

I’m more of the leader-entrepreneur types so I don’t tend to look back after I’ve taken a decision. Well no point in thinking afterwards right? Life is no RPG where you can always reload and choose a different option for a different outcome.

So far I’ve managed to get away/solved, whichever applicable. So I do okay I guess, not taking into account most shitty instances though πŸ˜›

And wish I could do this:

Tied to technology

What technological device could you not live without?

While there are many living in today’s world, if I have to come down to one thing, it would be a no brainer- my laptop(s). And considering Electricity and the Internet are not technically ‘devices’, otherwise without a doubt the former be be true, as nothing can possibly work without it. (The soul of the machine, but we have soulless folks around here too right?)

Hell I wouldn’t be here in the first place if not for (them).

Tooting my horn

Most of us are excellent at being self-deprecating, and are not so good at the opposite. Tell us your favorite thing about yourself.

Now that is not entirely true, haven’t you seen those narcissists (groups) everywhere?

While coming to myself, I don’t know what toΒ  say. I just like being myself (just look at me).

To me, ultimately, [martial arts] means honestly expressing yourself. Now, it is very difficult to do. It has always been very easy for me to put on a show and be cocky, and be flooded with a cocky feeling and feel pretty cool and all that. I can make all kinds of phoney things. Blinded by it. Or I can show some really fancy movement. But to experience oneself honestly, not lying to oneself, and to express myself honestly, now that is very hard to do. – Bruce Lee

Again And Again

Do you have a favorite quote that you return to again and again? If so, what is it, and why does it move you?

I have already answered this sometime back here for a previous daily prompt.

Instead here I would like to mention this:

and let also would like to share my old man’s most favourite one here:

Rule #1: Never lose money.

Rule #2: Never forget Rule #1.

– Warren Buffet

Sounds about right.

Polite Company?

β€œIt’s never a good idea to discuss religion or politics with people you don’t really know.” Agree or disagree?

Religion and Politics, two topics among the most controversial ones today. I personally don’t know what to answer to the above question, though I cling more to the nay side.

I read a quote which read:

Rationality should be the only Religion.

Β …to which I completely agree with. Personally I wouldn’t engage in such a conversation with someone I hardly know or just met, as more than half the time the ‘discussion’ can turn sideways. Not that I hesitate to, I’d rather reasonably not lose a (potential) buddy or rather not get beaten for being reasonable (yeah strange world we live in). As I said, I won’t get into it on my own, but I wouldn’t hold back when ‘compelled’ to.

On this topic extended check out my other post here which perhaps you would like more.
