In giving we receive more

You’ve inherited $5 million, with instructions that you must give it all away — but you can choose any organizations you like to be the beneficiaries. Where does the money go?

I would start a charity organization of my own for helping those unfortunate who are spread across many places. From orphans to those suffering from terrible diseases like cancer and can’t afford treatment, and rural development.

ImageI would also like to help by donating to many organizations which are already doing a great job, this one came in first to my mind – Music For Relief. It’s a charity organization started by most favourite band Linkin Park for helping those who suffered from natural calamities among others, and opened my eyes to a lot of things on the planet. S/he said, who?

Pause whatever you’re doing, and ask the person nearest you what they’re thinking about (call someone if you have to). Write a post based on it.

ImageActually I’m all by myself at home right now, for quite some time. I don’t even know my neighbours, in a way. Heck there’s no one I can even call right now or some other time and speak to. I so feel like the guy pictured here. Well actually I’m one.

Instead read this post of mine on being lonely, yet not alone. Something like that.

And I was listening to Maybe Tomorrow Is A Better Day by Poets of the Fall.

More is lost by indecision than by wrong ones.

I was watching one of the most greatest TV shows there is – The Sopranos, and this came into my mind immediately.

How are you more likely to make an important decision — by reasoning through it, or by going with your gut?

ImageAh decisions, especially crucial ones! In major ones, I tend to reason on most of them, or at least try to, but personally I find my instincts were most of the time which led me to the right choice, or at least satisfying ones, if they went wrong. Sometimes both might lead you to the same spot, but via very different ways. Here is an article that I’d like to quote which I read pertaining to it, emphasizing on growth and leadership.

Tony Soprano, crime-boss and family patriarch of HBO’s The Sopranos, demonstrates successful methods for leading a team and forging beneficial, productive long-term relationships. When in doubt, assert yourself. Tony is well aware that he doesn’t have all the answers, yet even in his uncertainty, he forges ahead with bold action. He proudly claims that more is lost by indecision than by wrong choices.

It is important to differentiate between problem analysis and decision making. The concepts are completely separate from one another which is generally mistaken for the same. Traditionally it is argued that problem analysis must be done first, so that the information gathered in that process may be used towards decision making. That comes down to reasoning, but at such a time when you have no moment to think but act, only your reasonable instinct on which you can count on.

Press, Endure, Survive

Instead of three blog posts which I liked, I’d just want to point out to one by a friend of mine Joogz. I met this panda sized guy some months ago and we became quick friends because of (a lot) common interests. He is a graphic artist.

Well technically just knowing each other for some months, being and each others’ places and being aware of the general shit we do, when I read this post of his last week I was completely taken aback. I couldn’t imagine such a tragic sad story behind the face of such a hilarious funny often annoying guy. I admit we all have problems, some of us worse, personally I too didn’t have a great childhood not having much cherished memories (and I’m even a declared borderline sociopath now on the verge of insanity!) but I’ll keep my worthless story for some other time.

This got me into thinking there is always worse on this planet then we can care to think about, even close around us without being much aware. No, I’m not going to give a pep talk on how thankful you should be for what you have, nor suggesting you to go and shower praise or empathy for him or someone like him. It’s just the three words I mentioned in the title, nothing else.

Go read that post. It might give you some courage if you are in the need of some. And he does great artwork and music blogging too, so you might want to follow him.

Imperfection is Life’s Perfection

More than perfection itself, which is more of an intellectual concept than reality that possibly can’t be achieved or obtained in simpler terms, what’s more important is the journey towards that ambiguous goal. Imperfection is what adds the essence to life.

I was reading this article earlier on the upcoming much awaited movie, the Man of Steel. Quoting from the article, “I’ll be honest with you, there’s no Kryptonite in the movie,” Snyder said. Man of Steel hopes to humanize Superman, but by giving him new flaws and vulnerabilities. Superman actor Henry Cavill said, “Although he is not susceptible to the frailties of mankind, he is definitely susceptible to the emotional frailties.”

20100109141347752Superman is what you may call the ideal figure, or as a god. And on the other side of the coin, we have Batman, who doesn’t possess any superpowers or godly attributes as the former, but is regarded as the ideal human being, no different than a god. With still on-going debates on who is better, suffice to say these two are the greatest and well known characters who perhaps will never be knocked off from the top 2 positions.

yin-yangWhy I’m talking about them now here is that regardless of all the material and story-lore from comics and other iterations, in the core essence, Batman’s ‘weakness’ is that he is ‘human’. But Superman’s weakness is his humanity. It’s the subtle irony 90% of immature fans miss. Here we have the one who is the peak form of our species, but limited to human flesh, while the other a god who falls to our being. Now who is really perfect here?

While the Taoist symbol above explains subtly about these 2 characters, what constitutes to perfection in the first place? As I mentioned already, here it’s not about the destination but the journey. Who wouldn’t love to be Superman? In my case personally, just like everyone else I have many flaws, some I despise badly within wishing I could undo them. There are others I’m comfortable with, which in reality makes me, me. If everyone were ‘perfect’ where would be the difference and uniqueness of individuals? I guess despite many things we might have to improve on, being oneself is the most important and cherished thing of all. But we can always be Batman. 😉

Weekly Photo Challenge: Color

Well this is bit unusual for me too, as my post for this challenge will be on the colour yellow. I don’t much like the colour, but then again I don’t really have any preferences on such things as still my most preferred colour is black, which is technically not even a colour in the first place. Also note: being from India, and speaking English which mostly comprises of British English called Indian English, it’s colour, not the other.

On 7th April 2013 attended an IndiBlogger (India’s largest group/network of bloggers) meet, this was from Neutrogena. Check out my blog post on the meet. Because of the theme/sponsor of the meet, there was a yellow ambiance for a yellow photo opportunity. I would have added more, but because of the number already and besides wanting to keep it of that particular day/event itself I didn’t. Hope you like it. Photos by Lunatic Psyche.

Do-over!

Go back to a blog post you always thought could be better, or were unsatisfied with — now, fix it.

A small but in reality a significant fix in not one but two previous posts here. In both posts was left to add a photograph which I just did. While there can be many posts which might benefit from a redo (not sure it’s appropriate to fix them all) this was required for now. You can check out these posts of mine, Mapping out life so far and Local Flavor.

Iconic about Bombay

If there is one thing that’s truly iconic about Mumbai Bombay it is the king of food of the city – Vada Pav. Read the wiki article for some history about it, which surprisingly people here too don’t know despite consuming it for years. Known as the burger of Bombay, being the most notable street food and cheap that many to all can afford (and one of the many reasons for my poach that is). You can’t miss it if you’re in the city.

Image

It’s not the exotic locations, facilities, beautiful ladies or even the so called spirit of Mumbai, but it’s really Vada Pav the heart of the city, the icon. And for being there with the lonely me and my tummy 😛
