While I don’t hesitate to ask for help when very much required, I do don’t like it as it makes me feel crap. Besides thinking of the word ‘help’ what better word than to associate with a helper hero superhero!

This was too awesome not to share. (Go give the artist some a lot of love)
Down the left – Spidey reads some Ultimate Spidey with Mr Fantastic looking over his shoulder, and the Torch making mischief, much to Sue’s protests. Gwen peacefully reads Shadoweyes. Hellboy, Thing and Hulk bond over Darkwing Duck, while Usagi Yojimbo relaxes with some explosions, and behind them Atomic Robo and Asterix catch Doctor Doom shoplifting.
Middle – Robin, Batgirl and Spider-Woman thrill to the exploits of the Savage Dragon. Archie, Betty and Veronica share a volume of Runaways, with Frankie making eyes at Ronnie while the Goon takes in some four colour goodness. Blue Beetle disapproves of Booster Gold colouring in the comics, while Cyclops, Kitty Pryde, Colossus, and Pheonix chill with their respective comics.
And at the right – Thorn reads the Wonderful Wizard of Oz to an enthralled Possum Kids and Bone (who has set down his copy of Moby Dick long enough to enjoy some real entertainment), Thor, Batman, Invincible, Batwoman, Nightcrawler, and a positively smitten Wolverine. Death appreciates the genius of the Muppet Show, and Ant-Man and the Wasp read over the shoulder of Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn, who are getting acquainted over the widely downloaded (and awesome) Underground, while Iron Man restocks.
Short Description – COMICS ARE AWESOME! 😉
In the DC comics universe, a planet called “Htrae” (“Earth” spelled backwards) is populated with bizarre versions of superheroes. A Seinfeld episode made the idea of this Bizarro World popular, where the characters encountered their opposite selves.
Ah nice to see a prompt directly related to comics, especially since I’m an avid reader and fan since I could remember reading. Here the name itself of the character Bizarro is a bizarre! He is a mirror image of Superman, with complete opposite qualities of him, like a negative(?) mirror reflection. Bizarro was Ranked #25 on IGN’s List of 100 Top Comic Book Villains.
It would be interesting to think about what my antithesis in a parallel (or even here?) world would be like. Not necessarily the evil win/parallel, as we all are flawed and not idol as Superman to have a opposite reflection, but all qualities opposite which can be tricky as right now I’m not sure myself of all my current ones and where to they fit.
Today 75 years ago, an entire genre was born leading to creation of true action in popular culture and media On this day the world’s first superhero was born – Superman. Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster sometime in 1933, the Man of Tomorrow manifested in Action Comics #1 on April 18, 1938 (cover dating June, which will coincide with the release of the movie Man of Steel)
While being the among the oldest most widely recognized heroes till date along with Batman since 1939 and Wonder Woman since 1941, and today being filled with a galaxy of heroes, Superman remains the most important creation and iconic figure in culture, not only as American but for the world as the first beacon of hope.
75 years on, and still #1 with a fight close to the neck with the other side of the coin (le Batman). Personally I was always a Batman fan, but Superman has a special not to mention important place in all our hearts. As a friend of mine said,
Batman is the hero the world needs. Superman is the hero we all want to be.
Anybody can be Batman, but who doesn’t want to be Superman?
What if a child dreams of becoming other than what society had intended? What if a child aspired to be something greater?
Here is the latest awesome trailer which was released yesterday, which you must have seen 50 times already (like me) unless you haven’t if you lived under a rock in the past 24 hours or so. Recommended to watch in HD.
Warning: Goosebumps and tears eminent.
That’s not a ‘S’. In my world, it’s a symbol of Hope.
Here is the previous one .
You will give the people an ideal to strive towards.
They will race behind you.
They will stumble. They will in fall.
But in time, they will join you in the sun.
In time, you will help them accomplish wonders.
This summer, we will believe a god can walk on earth.
We will believe a man can fly.
Help us again believe.
More than perfection itself, which is more of an intellectual concept than reality that possibly can’t be achieved or obtained in simpler terms, what’s more important is the journey towards that ambiguous goal. Imperfection is what adds the essence to life.
I was reading this article earlier on the upcoming much awaited movie, the Man of Steel. Quoting from the article, “I’ll be honest with you, there’s no Kryptonite in the movie,” Snyder said. Man of Steel hopes to humanize Superman, but by giving him new flaws and vulnerabilities. Superman actor Henry Cavill said, “Although he is not susceptible to the frailties of mankind, he is definitely susceptible to the emotional frailties.”
Superman is what you may call the ideal figure, or as a god. And on the other side of the coin, we have Batman, who doesn’t possess any superpowers or godly attributes as the former, but is regarded as the ideal human being, no different than a god. With still on-going debates on who is better, suffice to say these two are the greatest and well known characters who perhaps will never be knocked off from the top 2 positions.
Why I’m talking about them now here is that regardless of all the material and story-lore from comics and other iterations, in the core essence, Batman’s ‘weakness’ is that he is ‘human’. But Superman’s weakness is his humanity. It’s the subtle irony 90% of immature fans miss. Here we have the one who is the peak form of our species, but limited to human flesh, while the other a god who falls to our being. Now who is really perfect here?
While the Taoist symbol above explains subtly about these 2 characters, what constitutes to perfection in the first place? As I mentioned already, here it’s not about the destination but the journey. Who wouldn’t love to be Superman? In my case personally, just like everyone else I have many flaws, some I despise badly within wishing I could undo them. There are others I’m comfortable with, which in reality makes me, me. If everyone were ‘perfect’ where would be the difference and uniqueness of individuals? I guess despite many things we might have to improve on, being oneself is the most important and cherished thing of all. But we can always be Batman. 😉
